# Seeking spent citrus peels for upcycled beverage project in Ontario

Hello - I'm seeking contacts / businesses that juice various citrus fruits in their production processes (in particular oranges, lemons, limes, and grapefruit) for an up-cycled ingredients project. Our distillery is located in Prince Edward County so ideally looking for contacts within GTA, Kingston, Ottawa area for ease of quick shipping. Upcycling is a large part of our business pipeline so any other upcycling ideas are also welcome as we continue to innovate.

Hi Ryan, There are a few companies with spent citrus peel in the GTA with whom I can connect you. Also, can confirm what Don said about LOOP Mission having lots of peels and are open to new projects. I was coincidentally on a call with David just this morning on peel-related matters. .

I'd love to learn more about your project ideas for the peels and see how I can help. At Tait Labs, we've been working with extracting citrus peels for nearly 13 years we found a way to solubilize ~50% of the dried peel mass which might be particularly useful if your project is beverage-related.

Hi Ryan,

On the retail sector Longos and other grocery stores have fresh squeezed orange juice maybe you can get the peels from them. Also Booster Juice may have peels.

Check also with Joriki Beverages, they make juices, I'm not sure if they will process the fruits or use concentrates but you can ask them.

There seems to be a lot of recyclers ( vegetables/fruits) around and most use the pulp and peel for their own process.

I would try contacting Loop Mission in Boisbriand, Quebec which are one of the larger groups, might be something they can assist you with.
