# Scale-Up - Part 1: The Lab

Before thinking about equipment, pilot plants, or full-scale production, the true starting point of scale-up is having your process nailed down in the lab.

My recommendations:

1. Ensure the process is reproducible.

2. Achieve consistent yields.

3. Define each stage clearly.

4. Validate your operating conditions.

A well-structured process doesn't just inspire technical confidence-it lets you anticipate risks. In food, every project should also address regulatory specifications from day one. That's how you ensure the product is technically and economically viable for the next step in the scale-up journey.

Why does this matter? Because creating a new product isn't only a technical milestone-it's what makes you competitive. The faster you reach a market-ready product, the more opportunities you have to stay ahead.

Before moving from bench to pilot, what's the single most important thing you validate-and why?
