Dana here. Just popping in to introduce myself to those of you who may not know me. I'm CFIN's CEO. I was employee #2 at CFIN (I can prove it - the number is on my pay stub!) which means that I've been here since before there was a YODL and since before we dropped our first funding program out into the sector. I come from the food sector. I started my career as a fine dining chef, worked in food media, ran a test kitchen and product development business and then became a CPG company executive. I've spent that last 10 years in roles that allowed me to apply the learnings from my earlier career jobs to helping Canada to grow it's food economy. And, I'm just getting started!
Since August 2021 when I joined CFIN, we've gone from zero members to almost 8,000! We've also invested almost $23M into your projects that test new technologies and solutions in real world business settings and helped many of you to attract venture capital, find new customers and enter into new markets. We feel like we've accomplished a lot and are serving you pretty well. But we also feel like we aren't finished yet and that many of you will have ideas that can help us to learn how we can do even more!
The timing to gather your ideas and understand what we do that is helping you and what we could do better is ideal. Right now I'm leading discussions with government bodies to secure additional funds to keep doing what we do now and to add even more great programming. You can learn all about our proposed ongoing government funded activity by popping over to Food 4.0 Action Plan for Catalyzing Productivity in Canada's Food Sector site. Feel free to mention your interest in new programs like our Global Foodtech Navigator Program and our Technology Adoption Accelerant Fund when you take the survey. And, if you want to publicly show your support for Food 4.0, let us know and we'll add your logo to the Strategic Partnership Carousel on the Uniting Canada Page.
