Plastic Free Produce

Hi all,

For those interested in reducing their use of flexible plastics, particularly in the fresh produce & shellfish industry, cellulose netting could be something that supports your organization's green initiatives. For context, it's estimated that only 1% of these plastics are being recycled in Canada (Canadian Plastics Pact 2021 Report, page 11)

For many packers, this won't require any new machinery and it's as simple as switching away from this difficult-to-recycle material. Zero transition costs and full decomposition within 12 weeks.

We were recently awarded the Sustainable Packaging Innovation Award for Compostability 2023 by the US Plastics Pact and Walmart thanks to the efforts of our first North American partner who has drastically reduced his use of plastic netting.

Curious if anyone in this group would be open to evaluating and potentially testing this solution for the North American market.
