The Pulse of the Canadian Grocery Sector

I have being asked to be a mentor at the City of Toronto's SMALL BUSINESS FORUM - TASTE OF SUCCESS: NAVIGATING THE WORLD OF FOOD BUSINESS on October 30th

As part of my responsibilities, I have created this hand out: "The Pulse of the Canadian Grocery Sector".

Top 3 Findings:

  1. For the 52-week period ending August'2024, dollar volume growth in the Canadian market fueled by discount banners. Ethnic stores sales in the past year have increased 13%.
  2. Most Canadians (64%) do most of their shopping in-store, with little variation across age, gender, or income.
  3. Price sensitivity is driving cross-shopping more than ever which is driving down average revenue per grocery transaction.
