If I type “music is” in a Google Search box, I get “a universal language”. Similarly, if I search for “food is”, Google suggests me “medicine” as the top result. I know this depends on your google profile, search history, preferences, etc., so I’m curious what are your top results?
And because I’m in a Johnny Cash musical mood today, I googled “What did Johnny Cash eat?”. I got a list of the top 16 recipes that Johnny Cash loved (don’t quote me on the authenticity of this claim!) and picked # 6 for this weekend: Parmesan-Breaded Pork Chops.
Can we conclude that cooking your favourite recipe while listening to your preferred playlist make for a “universal medicine”? What are you cooking over this weekend? What are our favourite cooking playlists? Do you associate certain music with certain foods? Vice-versa?
Have a great weekend #yodlers!
LOVE THIS! I got "music is the language of the soul" and "food is way to the heart" 🤩
I always play my fav 2000s playlists when cooking fun meals. When my brother joins, we play rap. When we are hosting, we usually play Turkish and Arabic instrumental.
Having 2 businesses One in the food and beverage and the other in the Music industry… I can certainly agree to this! There are many documented studies showing that music improves over all mental wellness. And food is medicine !
If you google the United Nations you will find many articles to support how the 2 go hand in hand . articles such as this : https://www.unwto.org/gastronomy-wine-tourism
@Hubba Khatoon can you share some examples or playlists of Arabic or Turkish instrumental music? I’m curious to learn how they influence my gastronomic choices.
@MEL Simmonds as Newfoundlander and Atlantic Canadian, what regional are any Gastronomy Tours do you recommend? I have yet to visit “The Rock”, it’s in my bucket list!
What an interesting correlation Nestor! As a heavily introverted teen cooking was one way I explored different cultures and places I assumed I would never have the courage to travel to. When I did begin to travel, it was a way of discovering new people and places. For me, it was a therapeutic way of connecting with the world in the same way that sharing mixed tapes (dating myself here) was a way to learn about new friends and relationships. Today, I almost always have music playing while I cook, and food has become my love language, a way I connect with my family, nourishing them physically and emotionally.
@Adrianne Assenheim, that correlation has been monetized by apps that pair food and music. The eating part of the meal, that’s it. For the prep part, I found none. Perhaps a market an opportunity?
