What To Know About CFIN's FoodTech Next Project Showcase

Happy (belated) New Year, YODLers!

We're about a month and a half away from our FoodTech Next Project Showcase, taking place in Ottawa on February 16th. You've likely seen info about this event on social or from your Regional Innovation Director, but if you haven't, here's what you need to know:

    • Attendees will have the first opportunity to meet and hear from CFIN's FoodTech Next winners as they'll be pitching their innovations to a room full of funders, tech companies, executives, media, and CFIN Members
    • The FoodTech Next winners will be showcasing innovations that impact all aspects of the food value chain, including: enhancing food safety, extending shelf life, and developing sustainable packaging
    • This will be a unique opportunity to network with leaders across the Canadian food sector
    • The keynote presentation will be delivered by Osler's Michael Grantmyre, who will analyze deal flow trends in the Canadian F&B industry
    • The event takes place one day after FCC's Future of Food Event. Both events will be at the Westin in Downtown Ottawa

Hey all,

Here are some updates about this great event:

1. Keynote Speaker:
Our keynote speaker for this event has been announced. It’s Michael Grantmyre, head of mergers and acquisition for Osler, Harcourt, Hoskins, Canada’s oldest law firm and that did 272 deals in 2021 to a total of about $8 Billion! Michael will be speaking about venture investment trends in Canadian food companies.

2. Ticket Sales:
As of today ticket sales are +50% sold out so if you are planning to join us for the live event in Ottawa, please don’t wait too long. If you’re a start up or scaling company looking for investment and support to scale, you should attend. Likewise, if you are an investor trying to fill your pipeline for companies that are 1 to 2 years from scale, you should also be there.

3. February 15th
There are two other food focused events happening in Ottawa on Feb 15th so if you’re coming to our event, you may want to check them out.
