Looking to better understand the technical landscape of food manufacturers in Canada

Hi all,

I've done a lot of work in the US over the years; have relocated back to Canada as a result of the political climate not long ago. I've done a ton of work for Kraft Heinz, Post Holdings, Mondelez, and a few others on the industrial automation side. From what I'm hearing, there are a lot of investments going into automation, digital transformation, greenfield plants, etc. in Canada. Does anyone know of a resource which covers some of these projects? How are Canadian manufacturers finding integrators to help them with these? Are there grants on the integrator / end-user side when it comes to food & bev?

Appreciate any feedback / insights!

- Vlad

Hi Vlad, it's a good question you've asked - we're interested in the same type of resource (project database) though Intronic's services are those of a robot and automation integrator. We've also been wondering how/where the food & bev. processors are finding the technical expertise they require to implement advanced manufacturing projects.

As for grants/funding streams we've seen some support provided directly to integrator-led projects via CFIN's own Innovation Booster program. In BC the prov. gov't has two food processing support streams:

  1. Food Processing Growth Fund
  2. Small Food Processor Scale-Up Program

Not sure if there are similar programs in other provinces.

Cheers,

Tim

Ah, thank you. That makes sense. I'm based in Montreal, QC; I'll have to do some research; I'd assume we have similar programs here.
