A group of leading Canadian development organizations active in sustainable food systems and agribusiness is convening Canadian businesses (including technology firms and agribusiness companies), along with government representatives, to discuss a proposed initiative supported by significant funding in the food sector across West Africa and Morocco.
This initiative aims to strengthen smallholder agriculture, support agribusiness development, and foster innovation across value chains to improve sector performance, generate local employment, and create investment and trade opportunities for Canadian enterprises.
Canada is a global leader in agriculture and agribusiness. With food demand projected to grow rapidly across Africa, this engagement offers Canadian companies a timely opportunity to explore and expand into these emerging markets. The initiative is expected to align with financing from the World Bank Group and other international partners.
