I invite you to consult the recently published results of the innovation survey in the food processing industry conducted by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada.
💡Highlights for Québec: Food processors (FP) in Québec were more likely than those in other regions of Canada to have innovated during the period from 2021 to 2023; nearly 3 out of 4 FPs (72.7%) in Québec reported having introduced at least one innovation. These companies were most likely to have introduced organisational innovations (46.3%) and process innovations (43.3%).
These results are not surprising and they confirm that in Québec, innovation is a priority for the provincial government, which invests approximately 1.5 billion dollars per year on average in research and innovation (7.5 billion dollars from 2022-2027) as part of the Québec Research and Innovation Investment Strategy. The number of funding programmes and the quality of organisations supporting Québec businesses wishing to grow through innovation demonstrate the importance Québec places on innovation.
