Very interesting blog post! Thanks for sharing this Olivia.
What has been the most surprising thing you've learned about using data to manage freshness and prevent waste?
Thanks Dana, the most surprising thing we've learned is how data can impact inventory waste and how many people are not leveraging it effectively. Many mid-sized manufacturing companies have access to tons of data (from multiple ERP(s), supply chain planning software, warehouse management etc) but those systems don't talk to each other which makes it difficult to track inventory in real time. That's where you run into problems like unexpected inventory expiration which results in environmental and financial waste.
We understand data governance is a large project to tackle, but if it results in reduced waste and an increased bottom line - wouldn't it be better to get started earlier? That's why The Owl makes the process of data harmonization and integration easy for our customers. We do all the heavy lifting - completing a project that could take up to 1 year, in 4-6 weeks.
I'm always happy to answer questions if anyone is facing these challenges! Feel free to connect with me :)
@Olivia Santucci, I'm tagging @Gavin Andrews here for visibility. Perhaps there's an opportunity for both, The Owl, and Mabel Systems, to leverage each other's complementary capabilities, technologies, data experience and market specialization, and build a brand new product or enhance an existing product specialized in inventory and traceability management functionality for the sea food industry.
