Good day, we are a company that imports food and distributes to all of Canada. Our present office is located in Montreal, Quebec. We have had request to see if we could expand into BC (Vancouver) to expand and better service existing customers and potential new one. The objective is to reduce the shipping time and be more effective.
As being a smaller company, would anyone know if there are programs that we could applied or research that helps in subsidizing this king of expansion? Does the province of BC have any resources?
Thanks for tagging me @Lavina Gully. Our mandate at Export Development Canada is to help companies who are expanding internationally or who have a future plan of exporting. @Raymond Bujold it seems like other government partners would be more of a better fit. I would like to recommend this tool as a great start Canada.ca - Business Benefits Finder. Hope this helps!
A little more information might be helpful to get a clear sense of what they are looking for specifically (grant/subsidy/shipping solution). They might be able to find something in the Business Benefits Finder (as Yasmine suggested), I love that resource! A caveat: you have to wade through a lot of stuff to get to what you actually need.
Here are a couple other options to consider.
PK – Enterprises - They are not a shipping company but they provide shipping solutions to businesses across Canada. I tried looking them up on here but I don't think they are a CFIN member, probably because they don't specifically deal with food businesses. The contact name is Paul Kalra, and I've heard great things!
Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) - Again, this is not food centric but they offer great benefits for small businesses across Canada. You do have to become a member to access their benefits.
