Hi all,
We're looking for a chocolate co-manufacturer in Canada to work from couverture we supply.
I'm Viola Labi, founder of EYEDU, a single origin chocolate brand. Our cacao is grown and processed in Ghana, and we import finished couverture ourselves. I also run Woven Worldwide, which has been importing from Ghana into Canada for four years.
What we're looking for a partner to do:
- Moulded bars from our couverture, custom mould, roughly 60g, wrapped or supplied unwrapped for us to pack
- Filled bonbons and pralines
- Small moulded pieces from a shared plate, two designs, in a later phase
The part that matters most is whether you can work from customer-supplied couverture. Our couverture is from two Ghanaian producers holding FSSC 22000 and BRC, along with Rainforest Alliance, UTZ, Kosher and Halal. We can provide full certification and specification sheets.
The facility would need to hold a valid Safe Food for Canadians licence and SQF certification. We sell across provinces and expect to export, so I'd also like to know what export certifications you hold or could support.
Year one is conservative, in the low thousands of bars across two production windows, growing from there. We're a launch-stage brand, not a national account, and I know that won't suit every facility. If you work with small runs and are comfortable growing with a brand, I'd love to talk.
Ontario or Quebec preferred since we're Toronto based.
Specific things I'd want to understand: what documentation you need before running customer-supplied couverture, how you handle allergen and equipment separation between clients, minimum order quantities by format, and whether labelling and nutritional analysis sits with you or with us.
Thanks so much,
Viola Labi
